Alice Bierhorst is a visionary singer and songmaker. Ethereal and earthy, tender and tough, her music draws upon classical music, 60's and 70's pop, roots rock, Tin Pan Alley, and dreamy indie folk. Debussy, Ravel, Kate Bush, Burt Bacharach, Carole King, Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, Brian Wilson, Liz Phair, Holland-Dozier-Holland, Sandy Denny era Fairport Convention, The Free Design, Laura Nyro, Judee Sill, The Mommyheads, Lucinda Williams. A voice clear and plaintive, airy and grounded, full of wonder, tenderness and love.
She grew up in a small town listening to her mother's opera records and her dad's piano playing. She wrote her first album at 14. She has released FOURTEEN albums of original material and one "greatest hits". She is working on her FIFTEENTH album with producer/drummer Jeff Lipstein. She currently lives in Brooklyn with her family.
